I couldn’t imagine that I would receive terrible news on January 26, 2009. That I had breast cancer. This news devastated my shipmates, and my family, and I didn’t know if I would be able to continue my military career. I was able to receive treatment for breast cancer at Fort Lewis Army Medical Center. My team of doctors provided extraordinary care. I didn’t give up and was able to inspire those close around me to keep fighting. I knew I had a bigger mission ahead of me I just didn’t know what at the time
